As reported by Sky & Telescope, “When Fragment ‘A’ hit the giant planet, it threw up a fireball so unexpectedly bright that it seemed to knock the world’s astronomical community off its feet.”

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) detected a flare-up of fragment “G” of Shoemaker-Levy long before impact at a distance of 2.3 million miles from Jupiter. For the electrical theorists this flash would occur as the fragment crossed Jupiter’s plasma sheath, or magnetosphere boundary. Thornhill comments: “A plasma sheath, or ‘double layer’, is a region of strong electric field, so the outburst there of an electrified comet nucleus is expected. The outburst was a surprise to astronomers. Hubble’s Faint Object Spectrograph (FOS) recorded strong emissions from fragment ‘G’ of ionized magnesium but no hydroxyl radical (OH), expected from water ice”. Also, after the flare-up in magnesium emissions there was a “dramatic change in the light reflected from the dust particles in the comet”
Deci ce vreau sa evidentiez aici este ca nu prea stiu domnii astronomi prea bine cum interactioneaza corpurile ceresti si nu se asteptau deloc la fenomene atat de violente.

Respectivul corp ceresc in despre care a fost vorba in Rusia s-a vaporizat in atmosfera din cauza uriaselor descarcari electrice care a avut loc intre acesta si pamant, iar energia degajata in urma acestora au provocat fenomenele pe care deja le cunoastem.
Iar descrierile martorilor confirma aceste fenomene.
Daca respectivul corp ar fi avut aceeasi sarcina electrica cu cea a pamantului nu s-ar fi inregistrat explozia respectiva. Dar nefiind vorba de asa ceva descarcarea s-a intamplat. In plus trebuie sa cunoasteti cateva notiuni elementare cu privire la fenomenele electrice din plasma. Unul din ele ar fi ca toate corpurile ceresti au ceea ce se numeste "sheath" sau "double layer'. Acesta ar fi un invelis propriu unui corp ceresc care se formeaza in jurul corp care este intr-un mediu cu o alta incarcatura electrica (daca explic aiurea cei experti in plasma sa ma corecteze
). Interactiunile electrice cu mediul inconjurator au loc de obicei la acest nivel. Lucrurile sunt demonstrate stiintific, le puteti cauta.
Cand un corp cu o incarcatura diferita ajunge la aceasta 'bariera' sau 'invelis' se produce o descarcare electrica intre cele 2 (a se vedea flash-ul initial de la misiunea Deep Impact). In cazul in care vorbim de interactiunea intre corpuri mai mari, cometa (asteroid) - pamant, in urma descarcarilor ce au loc acestea pot dezintegra asteroidul respectiv. Daca vorbim de corpuri mici, gen meteoriti, etc, interactiunea respectiva nu este observabila, incarcatura electrica a acestora e neglijabila comparativ cu a unei comete sa zicem, si in plus e posibil ca adaptarea la noul mediu electric sa fie mult mai usoara si nedramatica.
Cat despre sateliti, etc, acestia nici nu sunt corpuri cu mase semnificative la nivelul de care vorbim, nici nu au viteze atat de mari incat sa nu aiba timp sa se acomodeze la noul mediu electric (care de obicei este acelasi cu cel al pamantului).
Exista totusi influente si asupra navelor spatiale:
"I am feeling both humble and perplexed by this. There is something very strange going on with spacecraft motions. We have no convincing explanation for either the Pioneer anomaly or the flyby anomaly.... We should continue to monitor spacecraft during Earth flybys. We should look carefully at newly recovered Pioneer data for more evidence of the Pioneer anomaly. We should think about launching a dedicated mission on an escape trajectory from the solar system, just to look for anomalies in its motion."
