The D-Link Roq-it 650 MB is a portable MP3 CD player with ID3-Tag support that plays both CD's with MP3 files and audio CD's and provides over 10 hours of non-stop music. The Roq-it 650 MB is targeted at MP3 music enthusiasts. The Roq-it 650 MB plays ordinary audio CD's, CD-Recordable and CD-Rewriteable compact disks containing files encoded in the MP3 format. Support for Multi-session CD-R's is also provided. It is compatible with the MP3 (MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3) standard, which specifies audio compression methods. The Roq-it 650 MB incorporates a sophisticated ESP feature that reads 120 seconds ahead in MP3 mode. Because the Roq-it 650 MB can play 120 seconds of music from memory, the Roq-it 650 MB stops the CD from spinning, which saves battery power. An ESP of 40 seconds is provided in Audio CD mode. Because of these battery saving features, the Roq-it 650 MB can operate for as long as 15 hours in MP3 mode using alkaline batteries. An additional power saving feature is an auto-off function. When there is no music being played, or after a CD has played all the way through, the player will automatically power off. The Roq-it 650 MB functions as a battery charger and includes two AA (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries. An AC power adapter is provided to use with the battery charger function and can be used for playback without batteries. The Roq-it 650 MB provides five equalizer effects including: Classic, Pop, Jazz, Rock and Normal. The audio output level is controlled using a 32-step digital volume control. Since the Roq-it 650 MB is compatible with audio CD's, it provides all of the programming modes that are standard on portable CD players. Repeat Track Mode plays the same song repeatedly. Repeat Disc Mode plays the whole CD repeatedly. Program Mode allows the user to program a custom playlist. Random Mode randomly chooses a playlist using the whole CD. Additional modes are provided specifically for MP3 playback. These include Repeat Directory and Random Repeat Directory. The Hold feature disables the use of all of the buttons so that the user cannot accidentally change any function. All of these features are available in both Audio CD and MP3 mode. The integrated Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) displays status of playback and functions, as well as battery life, CD type and ESP status.
