Roman Herzog Research Scholarship for SEE Scholars

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and non profit Hertie Foundation(GHS) in Frankfurt a/M provide for young and highly qualified students with exceptional qualities of leader in research and lectures from Central Europe and SEE to implement projects of their choice in Germany (age limit is 35).
Applications can be submitted for long-term period of research, between 6 and 12 months. Research fellowships are offered on a regional competitive basis.

There are no quotas in respect of either country or academic discipline. Applications from the fields of law, economics and social sciences are particularly welcome since fellowships shall contribute to the further development of scientific policy in the home country. 12 research fellowships are available per annum.

Fulbright New Century Scholars - Toward Equality: The Global Empowerment of Women

The Fulbright New Century Scholars Program, an initiative of the Fulbright Scholar Program, brings together annually 25-30 outstanding research scholars and professionals from the U.S. and around the world. NCS fellows engage in multidisciplinary collaboration on a topic of global significance under the leadership of a Distinguished New Century Scholar Leader, an individual selected for expertise and standing in the area of the research topic as well as for the ability to approach the topic from an interdisciplinary perspective.
For the academic year 2004-2005, the research focus is "Toward Equality: The Global Empowerment of Women."

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications
for a new

Master's in Coexistence and Conflict

Beginning September 2004

at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

This Master's Program is uniquely designed to provide students
with a solid grounding in both the theories of contemporary
coexistence and conflict work and the professional skills to
design and implement successful interventions that address the
challenges of conflict.

The program will particularly suit early and mid-career
professionals who work, or aspire to work, within governments,
international agencies, or business. It will also help
professionals working in related fields such as security and
diplomacy, aid and development, human rights, education, and the
promotion of democracy and civil society.

The Program is under the leadership of Professor Mari Fitzduff,
Ph.D. who is from Northern Ireland and brings more than 15 years
of international experience in conflict resolution practice and
policy development to the program. Prof. Fitzduff was the first
chief executive of the Community Relations Council, the foremost
conflict resolution agency in Northern Ireland. More recently she
served as director of UNU/INCORE, one of the world's leading
organizations for international research and consultancy work on
coexistence and conflict.

Brandeis is in an ideal location just nine miles west of Boston
and offers students a unique opportunity to study in a world-
class location home to many of the important organizations
researching and working on coexistence and conflict issues.
